rECLAIMED Timber

A material that gets better the more you use it.

Our reclaimed timber lives to tell a new story.

Salvaged from old buildings steeped in history, our timber pieces enjoy a second lease and life as new piece that feature the unique markings of all that has come before.

With time, this timber only gets better with age and use. It marks further and develops its own unique patina of life, allowing it to endure from one generation to the next.

As timber is a natural material, its grain detail, colour and finishes are subject to variation. Additionally, the natural quality of timber means it often experiences movement, especially in warmer climates or environments where temperatures frequently fluctuate from hot to cold.

This is an important element to consider when choosing the location for your timber piece. We strongly recommend keeping your timber furniture out of direct and strong reflective sunlight, and away from moisture or liquids where possible.

Caring for your timber piece – exterior

Our exterior timber products are finished in a lightly pigmented micro-porous oil, which provides extreme water, weather, and UV resistance. However, it’s important to remember the Australian outdoor environment is harsh and will naturally affect timber colour and texture.

To help improve the longevity of your outdoor piece, the below guidelines should be followed:

  • Consider the need for a protective cover as direct sunlight and water pooling on timber will break down the oil finish and eventually penetrate the timber. This will lead to changes in colour and texture.

  • Apply the relevant oil regularly to rejuvenate your piece and improve the longevity of the timber. This will also assist in avoiding the effects of aging and greying.

Caring for your timber piece – interior

Each indoor timber piece is finished in a natural hard wax oil, which provides a soft and tactile surface that’s both scratch resistant and water repellent.

For longevity and maintenance of the piece, please ensure the following:

  • Regularly wipe down with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt.

  • Do not leave spills or moisture to sit on any surface. Instead, wipe immediately with a dry cloth.

  • Use coasters or trivets when placing hot or cold items on the surface of your piece for substantial periods of time. This will help to avoid condensation or moisture penetrating the finish and marking the timber.

  • Be careful when placing rough items on your piece that may scratch surface.

  • Avoid the use of detergents when cleaning as these will break down the oils in the product and compromise the finish. Instead, we recommend periodical application of liquid wax cleaner to rejuvenate and maintain your piece.

Liquid wax cleaner is our recommendation when caring for reclaimed timber. It rejuvenates the hard wax oil used to seal the timber while cleaning the surface.
